In a strategic move to nurture future entrepreneurs, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has partnered with Amo Farma Hatchery Siberier Limited to provide Hands-On Training for Farm Practical Year (FPY) students, focusing on chicken production.
The Training Session, conducted at the Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE) on Wednesday, January 30, 2024, saw the Technical Assistant of Amo Farms Hatchery Siberier Limited, Mr. Alaba Yinusa address the participants.
Mr. Yinusa explained that the programme’s primary goal was to equip students with the necessary skills to raise day-old chicks for commercial purposes.
The Director, CEADESE, Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu addressing the participants at the Training
Mr. Yinusa observed that the comprehensive training, spanning six to seven weeks is aimed at fostering entrepreneurship skills among the students, adding that the company would recognise the most outstanding group at the end of the Training.
Mr. Yinusa revealed that each participating group would receive a generous donation of 1,000 to 2,000 birds, along with all essential requirements for feeding and raising them throughout the training period.
Beyond the technical aspects of poultry farming, Mr. Yinusa emphasised the entrepreneurial focus of the programme, noting that the Training would cover both technical and business dimensions.
He provided insights into preparing cash flow statements, business proposals, budgets, basic accounting, and establishing personal poultry businesses.
