The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has commenced its Library and medical registration exercises for newly admitted students of the 2026/2027 academic session, as the University begins to formally integrate fresh students into its academic and healthcare systems.
The two exercises commenced today, September 28, 2026, with fresh students attending according to their designated schedules. The Library registration is being held at the Prof. Wole Soyinka Library, while the medical registration is taking place at the University Health Centre.
The Library registration involves the necessary procedures for accessing the University’s Library services and resources, as well as obtaining the Library Pass for the 2026/2027 Academic Session.
Speaking on the importance of the exercise, the Librarian I, ’Nimbe Adedipe Library, Dr. Idowu Koleade, said the registration would enable students to access Library resources and services that support effective learning, research and academic development.
Dr. Koleade added that the exercise would also familiarise fresh students with the Library’s rules and regulations and guide them on the appropriate use of its facilities. She explained that the choice of the Prof. Wole Soyinka Library for the registration was deliberate, as it would provide an opportunity for the new students to become familiar with the facility, rather than holding the exercise at the University’s main library, the ’Nimbe Adedipe Library.
At the University Health Centre, the medical registration exercise, which also commenced today, comprises four key stages: medical tests, X-ray examination, dental examination and eye examination.
Speaking on the exercise, the Head of the Department of Radiography, University Health Centre, Mr. Olalekan Olofinsawo, said it was designed to assess the medical status of newly admitted students and establish appropriate health records to support their healthcare throughout their stay at the University.
He explained that the various examinations would assist in identifying existing health conditions for appropriate treatment, management and preventive interventions, particularly in cases where there may be risks of transmission.
The Library and medical registration exercises form part of FUNAAB’s comprehensive onboarding process for new students, reinforcing the University’s commitment to providing the academic resources, supportive learning environment and healthcare services required for a productive university experience.
