In a strategic move aimed at strengthening the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)’s global visibility and improving its performance in international university rankings, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has approved the constitution of the FUNAAB Ranking Advisory Committee (FURAC).
The Committee was established to coordinate institutional efforts towards enhancing the University’s online presence, improving data management and ensuring the timely provision of information required by reputable global ranking bodies.
The Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Prof. Biodun Badmus, would serve as Chairman of the Committee. Other members are the Director, Directorate of Academic Information Systems (DACIS), Prof. Olusegun Folorunsho; the Director, Directorate of Research, Innovations and Partnerships (DRIP), Prof. Oluwagbemiga Adeleye; the University’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Resource Person, Prof. Adeniyi Olayanju; the Ag. Director, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology Services (DICTS), Mr. Temitope Soretire; while Mr. Oluwaseun Olufela, Senior Planning Officer, would serve as Secretary.
According to the approved Terms of Reference, the Committee is expected to coordinate the gathering and updating of information about the University on its website for ranking purposes. It would also establish a central repository through which institutional information can be readily accessed to support ranking exercises.
In addition, the Committee would work closely with Deans, Heads of Departments and Units to ensure the prompt supply and online visibility of academic, research and institutional information. The Committee is also expected to meet regularly under the coordination of the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, to review progress and drive initiatives that would further strengthen the University’s competitiveness on the global stage.
Meanwhile, the constitution of FURAC underscores the Management’s commitment to sustaining FUNAAB’s growing reputation as a leading institution of excellence in teaching, research, innovation and community engagement, while positioning the University for greater recognition in both national and international university rankings.
