Professor Akin Omotayo, Director and Dr. Abiodun Adeola, Research Fellow in the University’s Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research, have won Competitive Agricultural Research Scheme Grants, as awarded by the West Africa Agricultural Productivity Programme.
According to the Project Co-ordinator of WAAPP-Nigeria, Professor Damian Chikwendu, while Professor Omotayo’s project proposal entitled Adaptation and Promotion of Extra -Early Maize (Zea mays L) Varieties to Mitigate the Effects of Climate Change in South Western Nigeria was tentatively approved for funding with a total budget of N12,800,000.00, that of Dr. Adeola with the project proposal entitled Improving Child Nutrition in Nigeria Using Yellow Fleshed Cassava/Sorghum-based Complementary Food has been tentatively approved for funding with a total budget of N10,214,050.00.
