The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has rolled out a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) projects designed to uplift and support its adjoining communities.
According to the Ag. Head, Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, the first of these interventions was the construction of a borehole at the newly established Police Post in Alabata Community. He noted that the project, which has been completed with reticulation works ongoing, would not only improve water access but also strengthen security operations in the community.
Mr. Olajide further disclosed that the University had commenced renovation of a block of classrooms at Aaya Community, located behind the Ogun-Osun River Basin Development Authority (OORBDA), to provide pupils with a more conducive learning environment.
“In addition to these, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has graciously approved the release of financial assistance to support the renovation of a building donated to serve as the Grade 1 Customary Court at Bode Olude, thereby helping the community access justice in a befitting environment,” he stated.
He added that to ensure the proper execution of these initiatives, the Vice-Chancellor constituted a Technical Committee on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), chaired by Prof. Biodun Badmus of the Department of Physics, with members drawn from the Internal Audit, Bursary, and Registry Departments.
Through these interventions, Mr. Olajide affirmed that FUNAAB has continued to demonstrate its unwavering commitment to strengthening the town and gown relationship, while contributing meaningfully to the welfare and development of its host communities.
