A six-week skills acquisition training programme of the International Centre for Professional Development (ICPD) of the University, which was organised for young learners during the long vacation, has ended. The training provided thestudents a unique opportunity to acquire skills that would make them independent and fit into diverse job prospects. The ICPD Centre Manager, Mr. Lawrence Kazeem, appreciated the University Management, for providing the enabling environment for the students to acquire the needed skills, hoping that the acquired knowledge would be useful to both the students and the nation in general.
 

Young learners were exposed to various skills and training opportunities. For instance, Raphael Omeike, a JSS 2 student of Taidob College, presented the benefits of Microsoft Office-User’s Specialist (MOS); Mr. Oreoluwa Sola-Ojo, 300-level student in the Department of Physics, College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), FUNAAB, discussed computer engineering; Miss Favour Amubode, a prospective student of the University of Ibadan (UI), designed a website for a restaurant; while Miss Temiloluwa Adeniran, a prospective student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, also designed a website for photography, while Miss Adeife Adewumi designed a website for an online shopping mall.
  

Furthermore, Olalekan Adebayo, a prospective student of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), designed a website for ‘adire’ clothing; Vincent Precious, 100-level student in the Department of Computer Science (COLPHYS) of FUNAAB designed a website for fried chicken outlet; while Akinsola Akinyelu, 100-level student in the Department of Animal Nutrition, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), designed a website for wildlife park. Present at the occasion were four staff from the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, who were currently undergoing a specialised training at the Centre; and five special students, undergoing the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) industrial training programme.
