At a time when peaceful dialogue and constructive conflict management remain vital to the stability of Nigeria’s transport sector, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has taken another significant step towards building a culture of peace by equipping members of the Road Transport Employees Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ogun State Chapter, with professional skills in Peace and Conflict Resolution.

The initiative, implemented through the Institute of Communication and General Studies (ICGNS), culminated in the certification of 20 participants who successfully completed the specialised training programme, with five representatives receiving their certificates at a presentation ceremony held at FUNAAB today, October 7, 2026.

Presenting the certificates, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated the participants for successfully completing the programme, urging them to translate the knowledge acquired into positive action within their association and communities.

Prof. Kehinde noted that the programme reflected FUNAAB’s mandate of Teaching, Research and community engagement, particularly through Extension Services, adding that initiatives of this nature strengthened the bond between the University and its host communities under the “Town and Gown” philosophy.

The Vice-Chancellor described RTEAN as a responsible and committed association contributing to the development of Nigeria’s transport system, assuring its members of FUNAAB’s readiness to sustain meaningful collaboration and partnerships with the association.

Presenting the participants to the Vice-Chancellor, the Programme Leader, Peace and Development Studies, Prof. Temitope Olaifa, stated that the trainees had been adequately equipped and found worthy of certification in Peace and Conflict Resolution. She explained that the five participants present at the ceremony represented the 20 trainees who successfully completed the programme.

Responding on behalf of RTEAN, Dr. Fadipe Bamisaye expressed appreciation to FUNAAB for making the training impactful and accessible to members of the association, while commending the resource persons for their valuable contributions to the success of the programme.

Dr. Bamisaye further expressed RTEAN’s willingness to deepen its relationship with FUNAAB by exploring additional areas of collaboration that could enhance the capacity and effectiveness of its members.
