The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in collaboration with the Food Safety Ambassadors Network (FOSAN) and the College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC), is set to organise a Food Safety Capacity Building Programme for caterers, food vendors and food handlers operating within the University Community.
According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, the programme is scheduled for Tuesday, September 22 and Wednesday, September 23, 2026, as part of the University’s efforts to promote food safety and strengthen compliance among food service providers on campus.
Prof. Dairo stated that the Food Safety Ambassadors’ Workshop would be held on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at COLFHEC, while the training for food vendors and handlers would take place at the Chief Anthony Anenih Multipurpose Hall.
He added that the Opening Ceremony of the programme would be held at the Postgraduate School Auditorium by 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 23, 2026.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor directed all caterers and food vendors operating within the University Community, including dealers in cooked and uncooked food products, snacks and confectioneries, to nominate one representative each to participate in the One-Day Training programme at a token fee of ₦1,000 per participant.
He noted that participants who successfully attend the programme would be issued certificates of participation, stressing that the certificate would serve as a mandatory requirement for the continued operation of caterers and food vendors within the University Community.
Prof. Dairo urged all concerned food service providers to take advantage of the programme and ensure compliance with the University’s food safety requirements.
