The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole pointing out his administration’s desire to equitably develop RIYE, while the President of Yewa Tink-Tank, Prof. Ayo Alabi (2nd Right) and other executives of the Tink-Tank listen with rapt attention.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole has re-affirmed that the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has responsibility to the four geographical axis of the state, otherwise known as RIYE; Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba and by extension, Nigeria at Large.
As such, Prof. Oyewole assured that FUNAAB will equitably develop the four geographical zone of the State through her tripodal mandate of Teaching, Research and Extension Services, coupled with the vision of his administration to develop host communities and the nation as a whole, by dint of impartation of knowledge.
The Vice-Chancellor gave the assurance while addressing illustrious
sons and daughters of Yewaland (Ogun West) who paid him a courtesy visit, under the aegis of Yewa Tink-Tank.
Responding to the Remark of the President of Yewa Tink-Tank, Professor Ayo Dolapo Alabi, the Vice-Chancellor declared, “This University (FUNAAB) is committed to the development of the entire four geographical areas of the State. As Vice-Chancellor, I am also committed to the whole of the State and Nigeria at large, but we have special mandate for our catchment areas”.
“I want Yewa Land to be developed. This is not because Yewa Tink-Tank is paying us a visit. Not just Yewa land but every part of the state.
I don’t want any part to be left behind, he added”.
Speaking further, Professor Oyewole assured that his administration will impact every facet of the State positively.
His words, “I want to tell you that by the grace of God, this administration is looking forward to impacting every facet of this State”.
“I came to office with the spirit to do what is right for our people. I believe that the University should be relevant to the development of our people”.
He stressed, “We are in a knowledge economy where the strength and wealth of the people is not based on oil and agriculture but on the ability to move and use what you know to drive and provide for man’s need. As a result, I feel that being here, we should be relevant to the development of the entire State”.
Professor Oyewole pointed out that since inception FUNAAB has been developing the state through her mandate of research, teaching and extension services.
He revealed that of late, the University Community Based Farming
Scheme (COBFAS) has been impacting the lives of the people of Ogun State in Isaga Orile, Iwoye-Ketu, Odogbolu and Ode-Lemo representing the state four geographical zones, where that scheme is located.
Professor Oyewole stated that through COBFAS, the University has been able to expose the aforementioned communities to modern technique of farming, provide social amenities like portable water, organized academic tutorial for youths, among other benefits.
The Vice-Chancellor used the opportunity to thank the Yewas for their immense contributions to the development of FUNAAB.
Professor Oyewole specifically expressed gratitude to Yewa Tink-Tank or giving scholarship to FUNAAB students.
