The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to hold its 65th Inaugural Lecture on Wednesday, June 30, 2021.
The Lecture titled, “Feeds and Feedstuffs: Panacea for Declining Commercial Animal Agriculture and Food Insecurity in Nigeria” will be delivered by Professor Adeyemi Mustafa Bamgbose of the Department of Animal Nutrition, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM).
The ceremony is billed to hold at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building. The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Kolawole Salako is the Chairman of the Lecture.
A Professor of Animal Nutrition, Professor Bamgbose’s research interest is in the area of Animal Nutrition & Agricultural Biochemistry. He has contributed in over 80 Scientific Publications which have attracted international referencing to his credit in reputable and relevant local and foreign journals.
He has supervised over 75 undergraduate students, 43 Ph.D and M.Agric. students and co-supervised 30 NCE students till date.
Prof. Bamgbose bagged his Bachelor of Science, Masters and Ph.D from the University of Ibadan in 1983, 1985 and 1988, respectively.
An Academic per excellence, Prof. Bamgbose bagged the Best Graduating Student in Financial Accounting and Commerce 1978, Best graduating Student in M.Sc. Class 1985, and was listed in the 18th edition of “Who is Who in the World” by Marquis, Who’s Who USA, 2000. In 2002 he was listed in “Man of The Year 2002” by American Biographical Institute (ABI), United States of America (USA) and received Meritorious Award by Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) in 2002. He has received many letters of commendation for outstanding performance for assigned responsibilities at FUNAAB.
The University Don started his academic career at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO) as Lecturer II in 1990. He moved to Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, Bauchi (ATBU) as Lecturer I in 1992 and in 1995, he was promoted to the rank of Senior Lecturer at ATBU. He joined the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1997 as a Senior Lecturer and was promoted to the position of a Professor in 2003.
Professor Bamgbose has served the University in several capacities such as Ag. Dean, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM) from 1997 to 1998; Deputy Dean COLANIM from 1997 to 2001; Member, Governing Council, UNAAB, 2005-2010; Head of Department, Animal Nutrition, UNAAB, 2005-2008; Postgraduate Coordinator, COLANIM, 1997-2001 among others.
He has participated in external assessment and examination of Dissertations and Theses outside the University in higher institutions like Federal University of Technology, Minna; Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt; University of Benin, Benin City; Niger Delta University, Yenegoa; Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma to mention a few.
The Inaugural Lecturer is a member of several learned Societies and Professional bodies some of which include: Nigerian Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), Nigerian Society for Animal Production (NSAP), Nigerian Soybean Association (NSA), Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN), Agricultural Society of Nigeria (ASN), Nutrition Society of Nigeria (NSN) and World Poultry Science Association, Nigeria Branch (WPSA-NB).
Professor Bamgbose is happily married to Mrs. Margaret Bamgbose, a Fellow of Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and a Chief Accountant at FUNAAB. Their union is blessed with four children.
