The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), recently hosted three distinguished professors from Japan, marking a significant step toward strengthening international partnerships. The visiting professors, Prof. Juichi Inada from the Department of International Economics, Senshu University; Associate Prof. Fu Hoi, Senshu University; and Prof. Yuichi Sasaoka, Dean of the Graduate School of Global Governance, Meiji University, were on their first visit to Nigeria, and specifically, Abeokuta.
During their Courtesy Visit to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Japanese scholars expressed their enthusiasm for FUNAAB, having heard of its stellar reputation as Africa’s Best University of Agriculture and ranking seventh globally. Their decision to visit was fueled by the University’s international recognition, making it a prime candidate for potential academic collaboration.
Welcoming the guests, Prof. Kehinde expressed FUNAAB’s readiness to partner with the esteemed institutions of the visiting professors. He highlighted the University’s commitment to fostering global relationships that enhance research, knowledge sharing, and capacity building across various academic disciplines being offered by FUNAAB.
“We are excited to have you here and look forward to forging partnerships that will benefit not only our University but the global academic community,” said the Vice-Chancellor.
Following their meeting, the visitors were given a tour of the Nimbe Adedipe Library, Postgraduate School and the College of Agricultural Management and Rural Development (COLAMRUD).
They expressed admiration for the infrastructural development and academic environment at FUNAAB, noting that it rivaled some of the best institutions worldwide. According to Prof. Sasaoka, “The infrastructure here is impressive, and we are excited about the possibility of collaboration.”
The visit reinforced FUNAAB’s commitment to expanding its global network, positioning the University as a key player in international academic partnerships. As discussions continue, both institutions are optimistic about the prospects of joint research projects, faculty exchanges, and student mobility programmes in the near future.
FUNAAB continues to build on its legacy of excellence, drawing the attention of top scholars and institutions worldwide.
