The Directorate of Health Services, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has directed all staff enrolled under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), including their dependents, to undertake a compulsory National Identification Number (NIN) revalidation exercise.
According to a statement issued by the Ag. Director of Health Services, Dr. Oluseyi Anjorin, the exercise applies to both existing and new enrollees receiving care at the FUNAAB Health Centre and other affiliated health facilities. The revalidation, currently free of charge, is aimed at ensuring uninterrupted access to healthcare services under the NHIA scheme.
Dr. Anjorin outlined two methods for completing the exercise, which are: Staff members may submit their NIN details, covering principal enrollees and dependents such as spouses, children, and other beneficiaries, directly through the NHIA, FUNAAB Desk. Alternatively, they may utilise the NHIA self-service option.
For the self-service method, staff are required to download the “My NHIA” mobile application from the Google Play Store, sign in, and follow the prompts to revalidate their NIN and those of their dependents. Upon successful completion, a confirmation page would be generated.
Emphasising the importance of prompt compliance, the Ag. Director urged staff to accord the exercise the necessary attention and ensure broad awareness across the University community. He warned that failure to comply may lead to disruptions in access to healthcare services, including system pruning or the introduction of charges, which may take effect by the end of April 2026.
Staff members are therefore advised to complete the revalidation process without delay to avoid any inconvenience.
