The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), on April 22, 2025, formally welcomed 235 new students into its Part-Time Degree Programme (PTDP) for the 2024/2025 Academic Session through a combined Orientation and Matriculation Ceremony.
Speaking at the event, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo, commended the Coordinator of the Part-Time Degree Programme, Dr. Enovwo Odjegba, and her team for their proactive efforts in making the programme a model of excellence.
The Vice-Chancellor affirmed that all Academic Programmes under PTDP are fully accredited by the National Universities Commission (NUC), assuring the students of the Programme’s credibility. He charged the matriculating students to uphold good character, noting that the University maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards social vices and examination misconduct.

Earlier during the Orientation, the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Prof. Olajide Sogunle, represented by Mrs. Catherine Egbuna, congratulated the students on their admission and provided a brief background on the evolution of the Part-Time Degree Programme. She urged them to make the most of the opportunity FUNAAB has offered.
Also addressing the students, the PTDP Coordinator, Dr. Odjegba, who stood in for the Vice-Chancellor at the Orientation session, described FUNAAB as one of Nigeria’s leading institutions, renowned for its fully accredited Academic Programmes. She emphasised that the PTDP has come of age, running on a stable and flexible academic calendar.

Highlighting the importance of the Orientation, Dr. Odjegba noted that the exercise was designed to acquaint students with the University’s policies and expectations while preparing them to navigate academic life responsibly. She assured the students that the University was committed to nurturing them in both learning and character.
During the event, students were exposed to various presentations by representatives from key University units, covering areas such as University rules and regulations, course unit system, result notification and certificate issuance processes, fee payment procedures, guidance and counselling services, and campus security.
