The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has been named the mentoring university for the newly licensed Abdulfattah Durojaiye University, Abeokuta (ADUA), following its selection by the National Universities Commission (NUC).
The announcement was made today, August 6, 2026, during a Courtesy Visit by the Founder and Proprietor of ADUA, Dr. Abdulfattah Durojaiye, an alumnus and member of the FUNAAB Alumni Association (USA Branch), alongside the Global President of the FUNAAB Alumni Association, Otunba Bolaji Gbadamosi and other top executives of the Alumni body.
Speaking during the visit, Dr. Durojaiye described FUNAAB’s selection as ADUA’s mentoring university as “A dream come true,” noting that he had always desired a partnership with his alma mater. He disclosed that ADUA had been approved to commence academic activities with three faculties, eight departments, and 13 academic programmes in Applied Sciences, Computing, and Management and Social Sciences.
Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the FUNAAB Alumni Association, particularly its USA Branch, for its sustained support through scholarships, tuition assistance, and feeding programmes for indigent students. He also congratulated Dr. Durojaiye on the establishment of ADUA and assured the institution of FUNAAB’s full commitment to providing academic guidance and institutional support for its successful take-off.
Prof. Kehinde noted that FUNAAB had previously served as the mentoring university for institutions such as Chrisland University and New City University, among others, expressing confidence that ADUA would also grow into a globally recognised institution.
Earlier, Otunba Gbadamosi congratulated the Vice-Chancellor on the University’s recognition as ADUA’s mentoring institution, noting that the partnership would strengthen collaboration between both universities while advancing quality higher education in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the visit has reaffirmed FUNAAB’s strategic role in promoting excellence in higher education through mentorship, collaboration, and alumni-driven partnerships.
