… Elects New Executive Members

The Ogun State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives on May 20, 2025, presented the Certificate of Registration to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB)/Odeda Farmers’ Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
The Director of Cooperatives, Mr. Samuel Mustapha, was represented by the Assistant Director in his office, Mrs. Victoria Idowu, who formally handed over the certificate during a well-attended ceremony at FUNAAB.

Delivering his Opening Remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated the Society on behalf of the University Management, describing the registration as a groundbreaking achievement. He reaffirmed FUNAAB’s commitment to supporting the Society’s goals and growth, encouraging staff participation in farming activities. He cited South Africa’s exemplary land use model and aligning the initiative with the University’s commitment to achieving Zero Hunger (SDG 2).
In his welcome address, the President of the Society, Mr. Ayorinde Isaiah expressed deep appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support and key role in facilitating the Society’s registration. He commended the dedication and patience of members, while inviting interested staff to join and benefit from the Cooperative’s numerous initiatives. He also acknowledged the Ogun State Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives for its guidance, noting that the Society currently has 23 members.

Delivering a Goodwill Message on behalf of the Director of Cooperatives, Mrs. Idowu charged the leadership of the Society to uphold its aims and objectives, stressing that the FUNAAB (Odeda) Farmers’ Cooperative Society was the first of its kind within Nigerian universities, a significant national precedence.
A special highlight of the event was the conferment of the title of Grand Patron of the Society on the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde.
The event also featured the election and swearing-in of new executive members. The new leadership were Mr. Ayorinde Isaiah, President; Mr. John Atteh, Vice President; Mrs. Opeoluwa Salako, Secretary; Mrs. Comfort Akindele, Treasurer; Prof. Mufutau Atayese, Patron, and other committee members.

Dignitaries in attendance included the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Mufutau Atayese; Ag. Director of DUFARMS, Dr. Emmanuel Bankole; President of the FUNAAB CT&CS Society, Mr. Olufemi Owoade; SSANU Chairman, Mr. Olugbenga Alayode; Deputy Director, Directorate of Internal Audit, Mr. Kehinde Ajayi; immediate past SSANU Chairman, Mr. Olurotimi Fasunwon, among several other staff members.
