In a bid to ensure the successful take-off and smooth running of the newly affiliated academic programmes with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), the University has organised a Two-Day Capacity-Building Workshop for the Oyo State College of Agriculture and Technology (OYSCATECH), Igboora, on April 16 and 17, 2025.
The workshop commenced on April 16, 2025, with a Welcome Address delivered by the Deputy Rector of OYSCATECH, Dr. Wasiu Raheem, who represented the Rector, Prof. Akinola Akinlabi. He appreciated FUNAAB’s commitment to academic collaboration and institutional strengthening.
Delivering a brief on the objectives of the workshop, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) of FUNAAB, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, stressed the importance of the training in fostering academic excellence and maintaining quality assurance. He underscored the need for synergy and strict adherence to University standards.
In her presentation, the Resource Person for the day, Prof. Oluyemisi Eromosele, engaged participants on “University Ethics and Culture,” including an interactive Q&A segment.
Day Two of the workshop, held on April 17, began with the introduction of the day’s Resource Person, Prof. Christian Ikeobi, a former Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic at FUNAAB, delivered a session on “Pedagogy: From Exam Question Setting to Processing and Rules Governing Exam Conduct.” Participants engaged enthusiastically, and questions were taken to clarify key issues around academic assessments and conduct.
Prof. Akinyemi, thereafter used the opportunity to reiterate the structure and expectations of the affiliated programmes, urging participants to uphold excellence and integrity in their roles.
The workshop was formally closed by the College Librarian of OYSCATECH, who represented the Rector. The closing remarks noted the value of collaboration between the two institutions in enhancing academic quality and institutional development.
Among the FUNAAB’s dignitaries were the Director, Directorate of Academic Planning, Prof. Olajide Sogunle; Academic Coordinator, FCAIB, Prof. Christopher Alake; Academic Coordinator, OYSCATECH, Prof. Emmanuel Idehen, including other OYSCATECH’s Management Team, Deans, Heads of Departments, Academic Staff, and Heads of relevant units.
The workshop served as a significant milestone in the collaboration between FUNAAB and OYSCATECH, reinforcing a shared commitment to academic excellence and institutional advancement.
