The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has taken a significant step towards enhancing its management capabilities by organising a Strategic Planning Workshop for Top-level Management Staff.
The training, held today, January 6, 2025, focused on the use of Performance Management System (PMS) appraisal for Management Staff members under the purview of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development’s Office.
While declaring the training open, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, stated that the Workshop was a response to an invitation from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) in Abuja.
Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof. Kola Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor disclosed that the Hon. Minister invited all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Parastatals to discuss changes in the system of measuring productivity and rewarding productivity within the public service.
He added that the idea of changing the Annual Performance Evaluation Report (APER) system has been under consideration for five years, with several workshops and training organised in Abuja for Federal Civil Servants, stressing that the current Workshop was aimed at designing key areas for the Ministry in 2025.
He, however, noted that the training would be extended to other Academic Centres and Units, soon.
