FUNAAB Partners CWAY to Enhance Graduate Employability

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with CWAY Nigeria Diary Industries Co. Ltd. to establish a framework for collaboration between the two parties in the area of enhancing the employability of FUNAAB graduates.

In his Remarks during the signing ceremony which took place on July 25, 2024, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde welcomed the CWAY Nigeria Team and highlighted FUNAAB’s commitment to excellence in teaching, research, and community engagement.

Represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof. Kola Adebayo, the Vice-Chancellor emphasised the University’s efforts in ensuring that its graduates were equipped with the necessary skills to succeed in the workforce.

Addressing the students at the 1,000-Seater Capacity Lecture Theatre, the Chairperson, Employability and Benchmarking Committee, Prof. Iyabode Kehinde, noted the importance of preparing students for life after graduation.

Prof. Kehinde, also the Dean, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS), commended Prof. Thomas Fabunmi for facilitating the partnership and encouraged the students to be ambassadors of the University.

In his speech, the Head, Career Services and Linkages Unit, Dr. Matthew Oose, highlighted the challenges of graduate employability in Nigeria and the need for universities to provide career services to reduce unemployment rates.

Meanwhile, the partnership aimed to provide opportunities for mentorship programmes, employment, research work, and career coaching for FUNAAB students and graduates.

The agreement was signed by representatives from both parties, with members of the Employability and Benchmarking Committee in attendance.

Also present at the event were the Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; Dean-Designate, College of Animal Science and Livestock Production (COLANIM), Prof. Abimbola Osho; Assistant General Manager, CWAY Nigeria, Mr. Benson Zheng; Human Resources and Administration Coordinator, Mr. Victor Oguike and other stakeholders.
