… As FUMMSA VC Pays Courtesy Visit

The Vice-Chancellor of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences, Abeokuta (FUMMSA), Prof. Abiola Arogundade, has paid a courtesy visit to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), as part of efforts to strengthen institutional collaboration ahead of FUMMSA’s official takeoff.

During the visit, Prof. Arogundade expressed profound appreciation to FUNAAB for the invaluable support extended to FUMMSA so far, particularly in areas such as technical guidance, mentorship, and infrastructural advice. He commended FUNAAB’s proactive role in laying the groundwork essential for a successful launch of the new university.

He further solicited sustained collaboration, emphasising the crucial role that a well-established institution like FUNAAB plays in nurturing and guiding newly established universities. The FUMMSA Vice-Chancellor noted that continued mentorship would be pivotal in shaping the academic and administrative foundation of FUMMSA.

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, warmly welcomed the FUMMSA delegation and reaffirmed FUNAAB’s unwavering commitment to supporting the growth and success of the new university. He assured that FUNAAB would continue to offer mentorship and capacity-building support in key areas, including academic planning, curriculum development, staff training, research, and infrastructure planning.

Prof. Kehinde also highlighted the significance of having two federal universities in Abeokuta, stating that FUNAAB was fully committed to seeing FUMMSA thrive in its mandate of advancing Medicine and Medical Sciences education in Nigeria.

The visit not only strengthened the bonds between the two institutions but also underscored FUNAAB’s pivotal role in advancing higher education development through inter-university cooperation and mentorship.
