The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has reaffirmed its commitment to holistic wellness, embracing body, mind, and spirit through faith-based engagements and health-focused messages as part of the ongoing Health Symposium and spiritual activities on campus.
At the Chapel of Grace, during the Christian prayer and exhortation session held as part of the second day’s symposium, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended staff for their participation and urged them to keep Christ at the centre of their lives while pursuing total well-being. He prayed for the University’s continuous growth and encouraged staff to reflect God’s values, daily.
The session featured the General Overseer of Rock Foundation Church, Rev. Tunde Amosun, alongside Prof. Israel Osunsina and Mr. Michael Ishola. Rev. Amosun underscored the link between spiritual and physical health, stressing that faith, not the quantity of prayers is key to divine healing. Drawing from Hebrews 2:14 and Matthew 4:23, he highlighted the unity of Scriptures, the threefold nature of God, and the role of natural remedies, including plants, in promoting wellness.
Similarly, the Muslim community held a special prayer session at the University Mosque, seeking divine protection against untimely death. Representing the Vice-Chancellor, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, described the gathering as an opportunity to pray for a fruitful year and the safety of staff, students, and the University. He commended the Muslim community’s leadership for their cooperation, understanding, and dedication to FUNAAB’s progress.
The Chief Imam, Prof. Idris Ayinde, expressed gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor for his unwavering support, noting that his encouragement has strengthened spiritual activities on campus. He prayed for the success of the University’s leadership and for sustained peace, unity, and progress within FUNAAB.
The session also featured a health talk by Prof. Taofeek Shittu, who reminded participants that while humans face challenges, Allah remains the ultimate source of relief. He advised healthy living through balanced nutrition, regular exercise, adequate rest, and constant prayer. Supplications were offered for protection from evil, the peace and progress of the University, and the well-being of children.
