The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole has solicited for the collaboration of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) in the development of the University’s College of Management Science (COLMAS).
Professor Oyewole made this appeal when the 48th President of the Institution, Mr. Adedoyin Idowu Owolabi paid him a courtesy call.
The Vice-Chancellor who was represented by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic, Professor Toyin Arowolo commended the Institute for their professional standards and ethics, noting that their members who are serving in the Bursary Department of the University have live up to their professional calling of financial accuracy and transparency.
Professor Oyewole charged the Institute to take a cue from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), which endowed the University with a befitting 500 Million Naira building complex for the College of Management Sciences (COLMAS).
In his remarks, the President of ICAN, Mr. Adedoyin Idowu Owolabi congratulated the University for the successful take-off of COLMAS which he described as one of the best in the country.
He advised the Vice-Chancellor and his team on the need to lay a solid foundation for the College by organizing Career Counselling for the students, assuring that “ICAN is ready to assist future generation and I urge you to partner with us”.
Mr. Owolabi advised the University Management to get copies of the Institute’s Syllabus, as this will greatly assist the students in their course of study.
He charged the University to do everything humanly possible to get accreditation from the Institute in order to enjoy academic incentives.
The ICAN President disclosed that any student who graduates with 1st class in Accounting will be automatically admitted for the ICAN Professional Examinations which according to him, are in two stages while such student will be awarded scholarship, provided the University is accredited by the Institute.
