As part of efforts to promote a healthy workforce and institutionalise preventive health education, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), is set to host its 2025 Health Week and Symposium, themed: “Your Lifestyle Determines Your Lifespan.”
Approved by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the programme is scheduled to hold from Tuesday, August 12 to Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Prof. Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building , with a focus on lifestyle, wellness, and disease prevention.
The symposium would feature a series of insightful lectures by seasoned medical professionals who would address critical health issues affecting society.
🔺 Programme Highlights (August 12 & 13):
👉 10:00 a.m., August 12 – Dr. Azim Kunle Ashimi, Chief Medical Officer, FMC Abeokuta: “Causes of Sudden Death in Our Society.”
👉 11:00 a.m., August 12 – Dr. Yombo Shofolahan, Consultant Family Physician, Ogun State Hospital Management Board: “Causes and Management of Common Cancers” (Breast, Cervical, and Prostate).
👉 12:00 noon, August 12 – Dr. Sunday Amosu, Consultant Psychiatrist and Head of Research and Training, Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro: “Curbing the Menace of Drug Abuse and Mental Health Challenges in Our Society.”
👉 10:00 a.m., August 13 – Dr. Oluseyi Anjorin, Chief Medical Officer and Ag. Director, FUNAAB Health Services: “Why Must You Die Young? Socio-Economic Consequences of Poor Sleep.”
In addition, free medical investigations would be conducted for 500 staff members on August 13 and 14 at the Medical Laboratory, Directorate of Health Services, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. daily.
All staff are encouraged to participate fully and take advantage of the health talks and screenings as the University remains committed to fostering a culture of wellness and preventive healthcare within the campus community.
