A Senior Lecturer in the Department of Soil Science and Land Management, College of Plant Science and Crop Production (COLPLANT), Dr. Jamiu Azeez is among the team of scientists who won the Royal Society-DFID (Department for International Development) Africa Capacity Building Initiative Programme Award. Others are Professor Jon Lloyd of Imperial College, London; Dr. Vincent Logah of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Ghana; and Dr. Halidou Compaore of Agriculture and Environment Research Institute, Burkina Faso, who won the award for their collaborative research project titled, “The Science Underlying the West African Forest Island Phenomenon”.
The total budget for the five-year award is valued at £1,132,162.00 and would include Research Cost, Travel Cost, Equipment, Training Cost, PhD Studentship and Management Cost, which would to be utilised by the four institutions. Dr. Azeez’s research interests are in the areas of Soil Chemistry and Fertility as well as Environmental Impact Assessment of Agricultural Practices. He presently co-ordinates the Agricultural Arm of the University’s Directorate of Grant Management
