FUNAAB Staff School Abuzz with Creativity on Arts Day

The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Staff School on Thursday, March 14, 2024 celebrated its annual Arts Day in a burst of vibrant hues and creative energy which was a testament to the School’s commitment to nurturing young minds through artistic expression.

Enlightening the pupils through a slide presentation on the captivating theme titled “The Relevance of Arts Subjects in the Academic Pursuits of Children,” the Acting Head of the Directorate of Public Relations, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide highlighted the invaluable role of art in fostering critical thinking, confidence, and self-expression among the pupils.

From dressing to painting, drawing, and music, he emphasised the multifaceted benefits of embracing the arts.

As the Guest Speaker, Mr. Olajide’s words resonated deeply as he encouraged the pupils to hone their creative skills, and tap into their God-given talents, igniting a spark of inspiration that would linger long after the event.

Prior to his speech, the Convener of the event, Mrs. Esther Adigun set the tone with a warm Welcome Address, stating the significance of art in everyday life, and stressing its role in driving innovation and fostering constructive ideas.

With a promise of an entertainment-filled programme, she invited the pupils to immerse themselves in the festivities.

Highpoint was a dazzling array of activities, including the display of artworks by the pupils, engaging quizzes, captivating drama presentations, and even a pictorial tribute to the Guest Speaker.

Present at the event were the Headteacher, Mrs. Florence Alade; Asst. Headteacher, Mrs. Margareth Olukehinde; Mrs. Adefunke Adams; Mrs. Victoria Ammeh, as well as other Arts and related Subject Teachers.

As laughter and applause filled the air, it was evident that the Arts Day celebration had not only showcased the talents of the students but also reinforced the importance of creativity and imagination in their educational journey.

In every stroke of paint, every note of music, and every moment of performance, the spirit of artistic expression shone brightly, illuminating the path to a brighter, more colorful future for all involved.
