The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Staff School, today, July 23, 2025, held its annual Prize-Giving Ceremony in a colourful event that celebrated the academic excellence, character development, and achievements of its pupils.

Gracing the occasion, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, commended the school’s management, planning committee, teachers, and parents for their unwavering commitment to nurturing future leaders. He congratulated parents on their children’s milestones, describing the day as the dawn of a bright future for the pupils. The Vice-Chancellor reaffirmed the University’s commitment to promoting academic excellence, instilling strong moral values, and ensuring continued infrastructural development to support a thriving learning environment.

In his Address, the Chairman of the occasion and Director, Zoological Park, Prof. Sammy Sam-Wobo, lauded the school’s efforts in fostering leadership and personal growth among the pupils. He underscored the importance of reward systems in reinforcing values such as diligence, integrity, and discipline, while encouraging all pupils to remain focused and inspired. He also acknowledged the dedication of teachers and parents in shaping the pupils’ paths, stressing that every child possesses the potential to succeed. He, however, donated a Laptop computer to the Headteacher of the school.

Delivering a Goodwill Remark, the representative of the Ogun State Head of Service and newly appointed Board Secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Mr. Olubori Akinleye, commended the school’s outstanding accomplishments and commended the University Management for sustaining a conducive academic environment. He also commissioned the newly furnished Prof. Olusola Babatunde Kehinde ICT Laboratory, a legacy project donated by the outgoing Primary Six pupils, on behalf of the Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya.

Earlier in her Welcome Address, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Florence Alade, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the University Management, particularly the Vice-Chancellor, and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, for their steadfast support and recent infrastructural upgrades. She also thanked the PTA and staff for their continuous contributions to the school’s growth.

Highlighting the academic and sporting feats of the year, Mrs. Alade encouraged the graduating “Starlight Set 25” to uphold the values instilled in them as they transition into secondary education and new beginnings.

Present at the ceremony were the Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture and Development Studies (FUADSI), Prof. Mufutau Atayese; Bursar’s representative, Mrs. Comfort Dasaolu; Dean, College of Biosciences (COLBIOS), Prof. Iyabode Kehinde; former Acting Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu, among others.

The event was marked by vibrant performances, award presentations, planting of trees and an atmosphere of pride and celebration as the school reaffirmed its commitment to quality education and sustainable development.
