The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) Staff School on May 15, 2025, successfully held its annual Readers’ Day celebration, a signature event designed to promote a culture of reading and learning among pupils.
This year’s edition featured the active participation of 15 parents, who took on the role of Guest Teachers, delivering Literature lessons across all classes from Nursery Two to Primary Six. The day kicked off with the school’s morning Assembly at 8:15 a.m., where the parents were warmly welcomed and introduced to the pupils.
Following the Assembly, the parents proceeded to their respective classes, offering lively and interactive sessions that included reading aloud, comprehension activities, and guided classwork. The pupils responded with great enthusiasm, actively engaging with the texts and contributing to discussions, while teachers provided support and feedback.
The event was widely commended as a resounding success. Pupils demonstrated impressive attentiveness and participation, while the visiting parents expressed appreciation for the opportunity to contribute to the academic and moral development of the children.
Describing the experience as enriching and enjoyable, the parents commended the school’s initiative and advocated for the continuity of the programme. They highlighted the value of exposing children to diverse teaching styles and new faces, which they noted enhanced engagement and motivation.
Readers’ Day 2025 stood out as a memorable occasion that reinforced the bond between home and school, while nurturing a lifelong love for reading among the pupils.
