The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has taken a significant step towards enhancing quality education in Nigeria by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Teach for Nigeria (TfN). The agreement was formalised after a strategic meeting held today, March 24, 2025, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room, and it involved Recruitment and Awareness Campaigns, In-person Training Institute Programmes, Joint Initiatives and Events, as well as Alumni Engagement and Career Development Opportunities.

Welcoming the TfN delegation, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, reaffirmed the University’s dedication to fostering academic excellence and character development. He noted FUNAAB’s willingness to collaborate with organisations that share its vision of ensuring quality education for all.

Speaking on the mission of TfN, the Programme Director, Miss Bosede Ogidan, highlighted the organisation’s role in addressing education inequality by recruiting and training young graduates as teachers in underserved schools. She commended the impressive contributions of FUNAAB alumni within the Fellowship stressing the need for a steady pipeline of FUNAAB graduates to sustain the initiative’s impact.

The CEO of TfN, Mrs. Molade Adeniyi, provided insights into the organisation’s achievements over the past eight years, including the deployment of over 2,400 Fellows across four states and teacher training in more than 20 states. She stressed that strategic partnerships, like the one with FUNAAB, were essential in ensuring that every Nigerian child has access to quality education.

A key outcome of the partnership was an upcoming training programme set for August 2025 at FUNAAB. According to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, the University would host approximately 800 participants for a 3-week Intensive Training, leveraging its world-class facilities.

Following fruitful discussions, FUNAAB and TfN officially signed the MoU, marking the beginning of a long-term collaboration. With FUNAAB’s reputation as Africa’s top Agricultural University and TfN’s unwavering commitment to educational transformation, the partnership was poised to make a lasting impact on Nigeria’s education sector.
