Two outstanding Students in the Department of electronics Engineering, College of Engineering (COLENG), Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta have been offered Scholarship in the 2nd APM Terminals Engineering Student’s Scholarship, 2012.

The students are Messrs Bakare Koyum Adebayo and Ebere Iheanyichukwu Emmanuel.

Presenting the cheque for the scholarship, the Managing Director, Mr. Dallas Hampton who was represented by the Head of Administration and Coordinator, Corporate Social Responsibility Project, APM Terminals Apapa, Lagos, Mr. Kingsley Akhighe said his organization awards scholarships to 50 outstanding Engineering and Technology Undergraduates of some Universities and Polytechnics in the Country and provide industrial work experience to the top 10 in this category.

He pointed out that the Scholarship and Industrial Training Programme are part of his organization corporate social Responsibility (CSR) which seeks active community involvement in every location where APM Terminals operate as well as afford beneficiaries the opportunity to acquire world class training and development with APM Terminals Apapa Limited.

Mr. Akighe who commended the University for producing two students who emerge among the best 50 students as against the one student who emerged last year challenged the University to work toward having some of the students emerge in the top 10 so as to afford priviledge to do their industrial Work Experience with the Company.

The Head of Administration disclosed that aside from acquiring world class training and development with APM Terminals Apapa Limited the top 10 will be brought on board the organization.

Responding on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Toyin Arowolo expressed appreciation to APM Terminals for their worthy initiative of rewarding educational brilliancy.

He noted that the University and its students symbolic with excellence as indicated in the recent webometric ranking in which the the University emerged 2nd best in Nigeria and 29th in Africa, while assuring that next year, FUNAAB students would make it to the top 10.

The Deputy Director, Public Relations, Mr. ‘Lasun Somoye on behalf of the University and students lauded APM Terminal for promoting educational excellence while encouraging other organizations to emulate them. The students were presented with N60,000 cheque each to cover their tuition.
