The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is taking a bold step towards redefining the future of graduate employability in Nigeria as it prepares to host the maiden edition of its 2-Day Career Fair, scheduled for November 25 and 26, 2025, at the Professor Oluwafemi Balogun Ceremonial Building.
According to a memo issued by the Head, Career Services and Linkages Unit (CSLU), the two-day event, themed “Bridging the Divide: The Skill-Driven Career Fair,” is envisioned as a transformative platform that connects academia with industry, positioning FUNAAB as a model for universities across the country in producing industry-ready graduates.
Jointly organised by FUNAAB, the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) through the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH under the Skills Development for Youth Employment (SKYE II) programme, Dr. Oose stated that the Fair is expected to underscore the University’s commitment to practical education, innovation, and global competitiveness.
The Career Fair would feature a rich lineup of activities, including career talks, seminars, industrial exhibitions, interactive booths, departmental showcases, and a resume/CV clinic. It would also host prototype pitching sessions, industry-academic roundtable discussions, and networking opportunities with leading employers and professionals.
With an anticipated attendance of over 1,500 participants, the event is designed to bridge the gap between the classroom and the job market, empowering FUNAAB students and graduates with skills, exposure, and opportunities critical for employability and career advancement.
Through this initiative, FUNAAB is not only fostering meaningful engagement between students and employers but also setting a benchmark for other tertiary institutions in Nigeria to follow, demonstrating how universities can take proactive steps in shaping a skilled, employable, and innovative workforce for national development.
