The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) is set to host the 2026 Conference of the Home Economics Research Association of Nigeria (HERAN), reaffirming its commitment to advancing interdisciplinary research and national development. The conference is being organised by the Department of Home Science and Management, College of Food Science and Human Ecology (COLFHEC).
Scheduled to hold from September 16 to 19, 2026, the conference would focus on the theme: “Family Empowerment Strategies and Emerging Technologies: Viable Options and Research Imperatives.” According to a memo issued by the Chairperson of the Local Organising Committee (LOC), Prof. Adetoun Amubode, the opening proceedings would commence at the Red Chamber by 10:00 a.m.
The four-day academic gathering would feature an opening ceremony, keynote addresses, paper presentations, and interactive sessions aimed at fostering collaboration and addressing contemporary challenges confronting families and communities. The conference would also provide opportunities for both physical and virtual presentations, enabling wider participation from scholars and practitioners.
HERAN 2026 is expected to attract academics, researchers, and key stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond, offering a vibrant platform for knowledge exchange and critical discourse on emerging trends in family development. Participants would explore innovative, research-driven strategies for strengthening family systems through the application of technology and sustainable development initiatives.
