The University has acquired a state-of-the-art Bottle-blowing Machine for FUNAAB Conservices (FUCONS), producer of FUNAAB water for enhanced productivity. Speaking on the development, the Director of FUCONS, Dr. Petra Abdulsalam-Saghir said that her dream is to make water available so that people would find it easy to access clean water for healthy living. The Director said that testimonies were already pouring in and suggesting that people were satisfied with the quality of the water and recommending it to others. She added that more distribution outlets would be opened for the sale of table water, sachet water and dispenser water while calling on members of the public to collaborate with FUCONS.

The Director acknowledged the support and enabling environment created by the University Management for FUCONS to thrive. She added that everything that had been achieved so far was because of the Vice-Chancellor’s benevolence and his belief in the company as well as the tireless efforts of members of staff. Dr. Abdulsalam-Saghir said FUCONS does not only produce water for commercial purposes, but it also has the mandate to train people. Registering her satisfaction with the water factory, she said “We have all it takes to compete with any water factory around here. We look forward to expanding the publicity for FUNAAB Water through jingles, interviews, and sponsored programmes”.

She, however, disclosed that the major challenge facing her office is not having functional vehicles for distribution. The installed Bottle-blowing Machine at the main factory is located near the Directorate of University Farms (DUFARMS) and could produce more than 800 bottles per hour. The mini-factory is situated at the Institute for Human Resources Development (INHURD) and is open for collaboration with business owners as distributors and retailers.
