The VC, Prof. Olusola Oyewole (Standing) addressing the nation’s former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo (Right) while the DVC (A), Prof. Toyin Arowolo and the DVC (D), Prof. Felix Salako listen with rapt attention.

The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olusola Bandele Oyewole, last Friday paid a Courtesy Call on the former Nigerian President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at his Hill-Top, Oke-Mosan private residence in Abeokuta.
It was the maiden visit of Professor Oyewole to Chief Obasanjo, in his official capacity as FUNAAB’s Vice-Chancellor.
Professor Oyewole was accompanied on the visit by Principal Officers and top officials of the University.
Speaking moments after he was received by the former President, the Vice-Chancellor said he came to say, thank you, to Chief Obasanjo for his immense contributions to the growth and development of the University, since its inception.
Professor Oyewole said his visit was to also express his commitment to the dreams of the University’s Founding Fathers, sustain and improve on the legacies of former Vice-Chancellors of the institution, especially, his predecessor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun.
The Vice-Chancellor pointed out that his ultimate goal while in office will be to ensure that FUNAAB impacted more on the community and the world at large.
Professor Oyewole said as part of efforts to attain the goal: “We shall be coming to seek your fatherly advice because you are our own father”.
Responding, Chief Obasanjo said universities are centres for economic, social and moral education for the nation.
He expressed joy that FUNAAB had strictly been committed to the realization of the dreams of its Founding Fathers, charging the Management to focus more attention on venturing into agricultural business by commercializing its farm produce.
The Vice-Chancellor responded by thanking Chief Obasanjo, saying “I want to appreciate you for the great wisdom that you just shared with us”.
He disclosed that Management was already looking into commercializing the business segments of the University for better performance, as necessary machineries are in motion for collaboration with reputable institutions and farms including the Obasanjo Farms.
