The College of Veterinary Medicine (COLVET) of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), in collaboration with the Veterinary Council of Nigeria (VCN), today, October 16, 2025, held its Alumni Homecoming and Pre-Induction Lecture as part of activities marking the 17th Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony scheduled for tomorrow, October 17, 2025,
With the theme “Celebrating Veterinary Knowledge and Impact: Shaping Enterprise, Science and Society,” the event brought together faculty, alumni, students, and industry stakeholders to reflect on the evolving role of Veterinary Medicine in national development.

In his Welcome Address, the Dean, Prof. Olusola Ajayi, described Veterinary Medicine as a vital profession that safeguards animal health, promotes human wellbeing, and strengthens food security. He stressed the College’s commitment to producing competent, ethical, and globally relevant Veterinarians who would drive innovation and development across sectors.
Delivering a lecture, the Guest Speaker and CEO, Doktor Bada Veterinary Clinic, Poland, Dr. Bada Adebowale Isaac, underscored the need for continuous learning, innovation, and entrepreneurship in advancing the veterinary profession. His address inspired participants to leverage knowledge and technology for societal transformation.

The interactive session that followed featured robust discussions on emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities within veterinary practice in Nigeria.
The pre-induction lecture served as a prelude to tomorrow’s landmark 17th Oath-Taking and Induction Ceremony, where newly qualified Veterinarians would be formally admitted into the profession under the supervision of the Veterinary Council of Nigeria.
