In a significant infrastructural boost, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has enhanced nighttime visibility and security on campus with the restoration of streetlights along the Ceremonial Road and Ring Road. This improvement is made possible by the 3MW Hybrid Solar Power initiative, reinforcing the University’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and campus safety.

The enhanced lighting ensures safer movement for students, staff, and visitors, making nighttime navigation more convenient while strengthening security measures. However, in line with efforts to conserve energy, staff and students have been urged to switch off electrical appliances when not in use in offices and lecture halls. Notably, as of 10 p.m. yesterday, lights and fans were still left on at the Anthony Anenih Lecture Theatre, despite the absence of students.

The University Management has continued to emphasise responsible energy use, urging the campus community to contribute to sustainability efforts. The improved lighting infrastructure not only enhances security but also aligns with FUNAAB’s vision of maintaining a safe, eco-friendly, and well-equipped learning environment.

Meanwhile, the streetlights operate on an automatic system, switching on at dusk and turning off at dawn based on light sensitivity. This ensures uninterrupted illumination throughout the night while optimizing energy efficiency
