In a significant move to enhance the University’s international presence and foster strategic partnerships, a high-powered delegation from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), led by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi paid a visit to the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Nigeria on Tuesday, May 15, 2024.
Giving a brief on the outcome of the meeting, Prof. Akinyemi expressed optimism about the prospects of the discussions, noting that the University was keen to establish meaningful relationships that would enhance its academic and research capabilities.
According to him, the visit was part of the University’s ongoing efforts to secure endowments, collaborative projects, and partnership opportunities between FUNAAB and the Chinese Consulate.
The Team engaged in bilateral discussions with the Chinese Consul General in Nigeria, Ms. Yan Yuqing which has spurred her into agreeing to lead a delegation of Chinese investors to FUNAAB soon.
Meanwhile, the Office of Advancement has continued to explore and initiate strategic initiatives aimed at elevating the University’s global standing and ensuring sustained growth through diverse international collaborations. One of such initiative was the recent visit of the German Consul General, Mr. Weert Borner and his wife, Dr. Imke Borner to FUNAAB in March.
Present at the meeting were the Director, Centre of Excellence in Agricultural Development and Sustainable Environment (CEADESE), Prof. Adeboye Fafiolu; Director, Zoo Park, Prof. Oladapo Oduntan; Head, Office of Advancement, Mr. Johnson Olukehinde, and the Senior Assistant Registrar, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Akinkunmi Jiboku.
