The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. kolawole Salako has commissioned a newly completed Students’ Relaxation Centre, situated in the heart of the Students’ Union Centre on Campus.

The Relaxation Centre which was initiated by the 2014/2015 Com. Olajumoke Olawale a.k.a Ola-Ola led Students union was completed by the outgoing Com. Michael Oloyede a.k.a Proverbial Administration.

Speaking at the Commissioning of the project, FUNAABSU President, Comr. Michael Oloyede, disclosed that the project was revisited in order to bridge the past with the future and rebrand the value system of the Union.

According to him, “One of the things that geared us into revisiting the project is as a result of the need to revitalize and rebrand the image of the University in line with what is  obtainable in other developed countries and society”.

“Also, the executives felt the need to revisit the 5 years abandoned landmark Project initiated by Team Good works of the 2014/2015 Academic Session under the leadership of Comr. Olajumoke Olawale in a bid to embrace continuity, and after sharing the vision that birthed it, we decided to revisit it as a part of rebranding the value system by giving the Union a facelift”, he said.

He added that the reconstruction of the Relaxation Centre was also prompted by the need to lighten Students stress, stressing that the Centre will help provide a place for them to unwind within the confines of the University while upholding the moral values of the institution.

Comr. Oloyede however stated that despite the various challenges encountered in the process of completing the project, they were able to achieve their goals with the support of the Management and various individuals, noting that the Vice Chancellor’s constant advice on learning to give their best in whatever responsibilities they are saddled with while not compromising excellence regardless of how costly it is further helped them in giving their best to the project.

He advised the incoming executives to ensure that the Centre is well managed   and maintained at all time, noting that the focus of the Union should be on how to make the relaxation centre more creative and attractive while still maintaining the moral standard of the University.

The President added that consideration should also be given to students who may want to be vendors or staff at the Relaxation Centre.

Declaring his goal at leaving a legacy behind, Comr. Oloyede stressed that his aim at leaving a sustainable legacy behind for subsequent administrations to leverage on has contributed to the idea behind the project, stating that they have tried as much as possible to create a structure for his successors to build on.

He advised the students and the incoming executives to ensure they take whatever responsibilities they are given with all seriousness and contribute their own quota, stating that there are people that are looking up to them.

The President however appreciated the Vice Chancellor and the Team Good Works 2014/2015 Administration for their support, saying that the success of his Administration was made possible by the numerous supports he received from them all.
