In appreciation of his dedication and selfless service throughout his tenure as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Academic (DVC, A), and Chairman, FUNAAB Schools Management Board, the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta International School (FUNIS), hosted a Sent-Forth Ceremony to honour Prof. Christian Ikeobi.

Appreciating his predecessor, the current Board Chairman, and DVC, A, Prof. Olukayode Akinyemi, expressed gratitude to the immediate past DVC, A for his commitment and leadership qualities, noting that Prof. Ikeobi always prioritised the school’s interests.

Prof. Akinyemi pledged to build on the established foundation, seeking the support of the FUNIS Management Board and its staff members.

He added that the school would continue to seek Prof. Ikeobi’s fatherly advice in order to tap into his wealth of experience.

Highlighting Prof. Ikeobi’s consistent encouragement for  academic excellence, the Treasurer, the Parent-Teacher Association of FUNIS, Mrs. Priscilla Bankole,  commended him for his accessibility, attentiveness, commitment, and compassion towards students and parents of the school.

A parent, Mrs. Patience Oluwatundimu also emphasised Prof. Ikeobi’s concern for both academic and student welfare, commending his unwavering support for students and staff as a true leader.

Representing FUNIS staff, Mr. Sayo Dada lauded Prof. Ikeobi for his decisive leadership, describing him as a man who has a culture of fostering innovations among the staff.

Responding, Prof. Ikeobi highlighted the achievements and challenges during his tenure, expressing gratitude to the University and its staff for their support, tolerance, and commitment.

He extended best wishes to Prof. Akinyemi in his new role, emphasising his interest in the forward development of the system and its welfare.

The highpoints of the event included the presentation of gifts to Prof. Ikeobi, followed by a card presentation to the current Board Chairman, and a group photograph.
