Grace, favour, joy, redemption, and love have been described as the five blessings of Christmas. This was the submission of Pastor Olanrewaju Anifowose, while delivering this year’s carol message of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, International School (FUNIS) themed, “The Blessings of Christmas”. According to Pastor Anifowose, who is also the Resident Pastor of Winners’ Chapel, Obantoko, Abeokuta, love remained the most important and significant gift of Christmas.
He reminded all of God’s love to mankind, noting that God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten son. Pastor Anifowose enjoined the congregation to celebrate others by showing them love. While reiterating the purpose of Christmas, the Vice-Chancellor of FUNAAB, Prof. Kolawole Salako stated that Christmas is a time of celebrating the birth of our saviour Jesus Christ, and a time to exchange gifts with loved ones.
He commended the students, staff and parents for their presence while wishing them merry Christmas. The Vice-Chancellor was represented by the Deputy Vice- Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Morenike Dipeolu.
Earlier, the Acting Principal of FUNIS, Mrs. Emily Okpete appreciated God for sparing the lives of students, teachers and parents. She thanked the Vice-Chancellor for his unflinching support and prompt response to the needs of the school. She further appreciated the University Management for the ongoing construction of the school road, stating that they were looking out for more of such interventions, to make FUNIS stand out. The day featured carol presentations by the FUNIS Choir, FUNAAB Cadet Boys Brigade members, and a representative from the Chapel of Grace.
