The Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, has lauded the invaluable contributions of former members of Council at a Special Meeting held today, June 24, 2025.

Those specially commended included the immediate past Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Kola Adebayo; the Provost of the Federal College of Agriculture, Ibadan (FCAIB), Prof. Jonathan Atungwu; and the Head, National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), Dr. Oludayo Oduwole. Prof. Atungwu and Dr. Oduwole had previously served as Congregation Representatives on the Council.

In his heartfelt remarks, Oba Olabomi expressed deep appreciation for the dedication and selfless service of the former Council members, noting that their impactful contributions had significantly enhanced the growth and reputation of the University. He stated, “You have made this University proud through your integrity, vision, and commitment to excellence.”

The Pro-Chancellor also extended commendation to Prof. Flora Tobolayefa Oluwafemi, who was recently appointed the Vice-Chancellor of the Nigerian Maritime University (NMU), Okerenkoko, Delta State.

On his part, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated the honourees, describing them as “assets to the University system whose expertise and wisdom will always be welcome.” He emphasised that their knowledge and experience remain critical to the continued progress of the University.

Other Council members also took turns to appreciate the honourees for their outstanding service and wished them continued success in their respective endeavours.

The event marked a moment of reflection and gratitude, underscoring FUNAAB’s culture of honouring excellence and fostering lasting institutional relationships.
