The Governing Council of the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), led by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, His Royal Majesty, Oba Rasheed Ayotunde Olabomi, Odundun IV, Asoludero, the Aragbiji of Iragbiji Land, has inspected the ongoing construction of the Principal Officers’ Quarters and other major infrastructural projects on campus.

The inspection, which took place today, June 24, 2025, was undertaken in the company of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, other Council members, and Top University Officials.
During the visit, the Pro-Chancellor expressed satisfaction with the pace and quality of work at the site of the three Principal Officers’ Quarters, designated for the Registrar, Bursar, and the University Librarian. He commended the Directorate of Physical Planning for their professionalism, particularly in ensuring high construction standards and adherence to timelines.

Oba Olabomi stated that the provision of on-campus accommodation for Principal Officers was a strategic decision aimed at enhancing productivity. According to him, “Top Officials often work late into the night, and having comfortable residences nearby is crucial for efficiency and commitment to duty.”
Reaffirming the Governing Council’s dedication to staff welfare, the Pro-Chancellor assured that plans were underway to build additional staff quarters to accommodate members of staff who wish to reside on campus. “Housing is a fundamental need, and the Council is resolute in its efforts to provide a conducive living and working environment,” he affirmed.

He cautioned against delays in project execution, noting that prolonged timelines often lead to increased costs. He, therefore, urged contractors to sustain the current momentum and deliver all projects in line with agreed specifications.
The inspection Team also toured other critical infrastructure under construction across the University, including the Phase II Building of the College of Physical Sciences (COLPHYS), a Suspended-Floor Hostel Complex, a 100-Capacity Veterinary Laboratory, and a Greenhouse facility with supporting structures, all designed to enhance academic excellence, research advancement, and student welfare.

Meanwhile, the inspection tour has further demonstrated the Governing Council’s commitment to hands-on oversight and its resolve to accelerate the infrastructural development blueprint of the University.
