As part of efforts to seek the support of the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, Okukenu IV, the newly-inaugurated Governing Council members of the University led by the Chairman and Pro-Chancellor, Alhaji Umar Ahmed today, October 5, 2022 paid homage to the highly revered Egba Monarch.
Speaking in his expansive Palace at Ake, the Alake stated that the whole Egba community was happy with the lasting peace being witnessed in the University attributing the feat to the outgoing Vice-Chancellor, Professor Felix Kolawole Salako.
Oba Gbadebo prayed for the sustenance of peace in FUNAAB, noting that the entire Egbaland has an abiding interest in the progress of the University.
Earlier, the Pro-Chancellor sought the support of the Alake, while the Vice-Chancellor corroborated him, even as he also paid glowing tribute to the former Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun who was present at the Palace as one of Egba High Chiefs.
Highpoint was the presentation of FUNAAB made products to the Alake.
On the Pro-Chancellor’s entourage were internal and external Council members, among whom were Alhaji Inuwa Tahir; Barr. Patrick Omeke; Mr. Adegboyega Adebajo; Dr. Celina Gana and Mrs. H. Lawal.
Others were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Christian Ikeobi; Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Professor Babatunde Kehinde; Registrar, Dr. Bola Adekola; Bursar, Mr. Chukwuwinke Ezekpeazu and the University Librarian, Professor Fehintola Onifade.
Also present were Professor Biodun Badmus; Professor Emmanuel Fakoya; Professor Festus Adeosun; Professor Folake Henshaw; Professor Jonathan Atungwu and Dr. O. Ogundiran.
The team also included the Deputy Registrar II, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Moses Ayanda; Deputy Registrar II, Council Affairs, Mrs. Oluwakemi Banuso; Head, Public Relations, Mr. Kola Adepoju; Asst. Chief Environmental Officer, Mr. Peter Bolarinwa; Asst. Director, Protocol and Passages, Mr. Emeka Oluka as well as the Principal Public Relations Officer, Vice-Chancellor’s Office, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide.
Meanwhile, the Vice-Chancellor later led the Pro-Chancellor and other Governing Council members to the Ijegba Forestage of Professor Wole Soyinka, an abode now ceded to FUNAAB.
