By David Johnson
The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), has taken another strategic step towards strengthening professional excellence in Public Relations, as Hattie Royale Media, a dynamic media consulting and professional training firm, retrained staff of the Directorate of Public Relations (DPR) on digital Public Relations, institutional visibility and professional anchoring.

The high-impact masterclass, hosted by FUNAAB in partnership with Hattie Royale Media, brought together PR professionals from sister universities, some selected staff members within the University system and DPR interns for an intensive learning experience designed to sharpen digital communication skills, deepen institutional visibility and equip practitioners with practical tools for effective professional anchoring in today’s rapidly evolving media environment.

Tagged “Voice, Visibility, Influence: A Digital PR and Anchoring Masterclass for PR Professionals,” the One-Day programme, held today, October 8, 2026, at the DPR Boardroom, emphasised the growing sophistication of Public Relations and the need for practitioners to move beyond conventional media exposure to embrace strategic storytelling, digital reputation management, audience engagement, search visibility, emerging technologies and compelling communication across multiple platforms.

Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Development), Prof. Olawale Dairo, commended DPR and Hattie Royale Media for organising the training, stressing that continuous professional development remained critical to preparing communication practitioners for the demands of the digital age.
The Vice-Chancellor noted that human-capacity development remained a major priority of his administration, urging participants to translate the knowledge acquired into measurable professional and institutional value.

Earlier, the Ag. Head, DPR, Mr. Olasunkanmi Olajide, expressed appreciation to the Vice-Chancellor for his sustained support and investment in the Directorate, noting that the backing had significantly strengthened the University’s image-building, visibility and strategic communication efforts.
Mr. Olajide disclosed that the two facilitators from Hattie Royale Media were former DPR interns who had benefited from the University’s professional development ecosystem, describing their emergence as Facilitators as a demonstration of the value of investing in young communication professionals and creating opportunities for them to grow into industry-ready practitioners.

The Coordinator, FUNAAB Radio 89.5 FM, Dr. Adewale Kupoluyi, commended the Directorate for its consistent investment in professional development, while the Senior Deputy Registrar, Office of the Vice-Chancellor, Mr. Moses Ayanda, encouraged participants to embrace continuous learning and apply the knowledge gained to enhance their professional practice.
Leading the Digital PR session, Mrs. Oludolapo Agbejobi, Principal Consultant, Hattie Royale Media, demonstrated the firm’s expertise in strategic digital communication, institutional storytelling, search reputation, audience engagement and the deployment of digital tools to build visibility, credibility and trust. She emphasised that Artificial Intelligence should function as an enabler of professional efficiency and creativity without replacing human judgement, ethical responsibility and strategic thinking.
The anchoring session was facilitated by Mr. Oluwaseun Adesina, a PR Strategist with Hattie Royale Media, who equipped participants with practical skills in event preparation, protocol, audience management, stage presence, transitions and real-time problem-solving. He introduced the AAA approach, Acknowledge, Assess and Act, as a practical framework for managing unexpected situations during public events, while maintaining professionalism and protecting institutional dignity.

Meanwhile, the masterclass featured hands-on exercises, breakout sessions, interactive learning and networking opportunities, giving participants practical knowledge and tools that can be immediately deployed in corporate, institutional and media communication environments.
