The Governing Council of the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (UNAAB), at its 66th statutory meeting, approved the change of name of the Honorary Degrees’ Committee.

It will henceforth be referred to, as Honorary Degrees and Monuments Committee, with new terms of reference.

According to a release, signed by the Acting Registrar of the University and Secretary to the Council, Mr. Adeleke Adeboye, membership of the committee has the Pro-Chancellor as the Chairman with the Vice-Chancellor being the Alternate Chairman, three External Representatives of Council and two Senate Representatives as members, while the Registrar will serve as the Secretary.

The release further added that the Legal Officer is expected to be in attendance at the Committee’s meetings.

The reviewed Terms of Reference of the Committee are:

 

I. To consider and approve recommendations from Senate for the award of Honorary Degrees, Fellowship or the title of Professor Emeritus.

II. To formulate guidelines for naming of University Buildings, Streets and other monumental places for Senate approval; and

III. To make recommendations to Council through Senate for approval of proposed names.
