‘Fellows of Fellow’, (L-R) Professors Olusegun Osinowo and Olufunmilayo Adebambo

Well wishers within and outside the University community last Thursday rejoiced with the Director of the University’s Institute of Food Security, Environmental Resources and Agricultural Research (IFSERAR), Professor Olusegun Osinowo who was conferred a Fellow of the Animal Science Association of Nigeria (ASAN) at the just concluded conference of the body in Uyo.

Also celebrated along with Professor Osinowo was Professor (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Adebambo, who also received the fellowship of ASAN.

The low-keyed reception organized by the Director of the University’s Biotechnology Centre, Professor O. M. Onagbesan in their honour, eventually became elaborate as it drew a chunk of Senior Academic Staff and their Non-Teaching counterparts.

In his vote of thanks, Professor Osinowo thanked guests for their gestures and also commended them for their superlative encomiums.

He remarked that the sterling qualities ascribed to him were product of his efforts at emulating great leaders that he copied as role models.

Professor Osinowo therefore, charged the well-wishers and the University staff at large to take advantage of the good leadership prowess offered by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun, to develop their potentials.

He spoke of Professor Balogun as a God-sent administrator that is always eager to utilize every opportunity and potential at his disposal to positively effect change in his immediate environment.

Citing the case of IFSERAR, Professor Osinowo disclosed that the institute in its first year is “approaching” almost N200m in value, aside from the acquisition of 2000 hectares of farm land and that its Permanent Office complex estimated to cost N88m, will be completed in the next six months.

Speaking earlier, Professor (Mrs.) Adebambo stressed the need for members of the University Community to celebrate one another when the occasion arises in other to foster unity and progress.
