IITA Appoints VC As Board Member

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Kolawole Salako has been appointed as an ex-officio member, Board of Trustees (BoT) of the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA), Ibadan, Oyo State. According to a congratulatory letter issued and signed by the Chairman of the IITA Board, Prof. Christian Borgemeister, the appointment would be for a period of two years in accordance with the decree establishing the Institute.

  The letter further stated that the Director-General of IITA, Dr. Nteranya Sanginga, and other members of staff would consider it an honour to host the new BoT member at the Institute’s headquarters in Ibadan, for an overview of the organisation’s work in Nigeria and across sub-Saharan Africa. It would be recalled that the Vice-Chancellor worked successfully on different research projects at the IITA for 11 years from 1989 to 2000 before joining the services of FUNAAB. Prof. Salako, a Fellow of the Soil Science Society of Nigeria (FSSSN) and also the Agricultural Society of Nigeria (FASN) would be succeeding the immediate past Vice-Chancellor, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU), Prof. Francis Otunta in that capacity.
