The representative of Indiana University, Director, Centre for Global Entrepreneurship and Sustainable Development, Prof. Bessie House-Soremekun has expressed the determination of her university to have a formal relations with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB).
Speaking with FUNAAB Bulletin after a meeting with the Management of FUNAAB, she said an International Conference, to be co-hosted by the two universities either in 2012 or 2013, will be organised.
According to her, “this is a wonderful site for a Conference”.
Prof. Soremekun described her mission to FUNAAB to include working together for the development of a rich curriculum for the University’s Centre of Entrepreneurial Studies (CENTS) and to help build effective business network in Abeokuta.
She added that there is the possibility of having exchange programmes in faculties, involving students from FUNAAB, coming to Indiana University and vice-versa adding that there will also be a support in the provision of books to FUNAAB. She described FUNAAB as a decent, neat and beautiful University.
Responding, Director, Centre for Internationalization and Partnerships (CENIP), Dr. Kayode Akinyemi thanked the delegates for choosing FUNAAB as a University to partner with.
He, however, availed them of the existing opportunities, in which the two universities could go into, namely; Joint research, split sides degrees and scholarships from the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), a grant by the Federal Government of Nigeria, to be utilized in the Indiana University.
Earlier, the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Prof. Toyin Arowolo welcomed the dignitaries to FUNAAB and promised that FUNAAB will be interested in partnering with the Indiana University.
