Presentation of the key of the luxury bus by MANCOT chairman, Dr. Atungu (in white shirt) to Director INHURD, Dr. Taofiq Salisu.

As part of efforts to ease transportation problem at the University’s Institute of Human Resources and Development (INHURD), the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Oluwafemi Olaiya Balogun has allocated two brand new buses to the institute.

The Chairman, Management Committee on Transportation (MANCOT) Dr. Jonathan Atungwu, who performed the handing-over of the vehicles on behalf of Management informed that specially-trained drivers had also been assigned to drive the buses.

Dr. Atungwu pointed out that the vehicles were among the seven newly procured Ashok Leyland buses from India and that the suppliers had assisted in training selected drivers towards ensuring optimum performance of the buses.

The Chairman enlightened that the buses were still under the one-year contract warranty, as such any technical challenge within the period would be referred to the suppliers.

He however, disclosed that only one bus would be released to the Institute in the main time, pending the arrival of the Federal Government-Assisted Marcopolo bus in the University.

In his response, the Director, INHURD, Dr. Taofiq Salisu thanked the Management for its magnanimity, saying the release of the buses was timely, given the rise in the population of students in the Institute.

Dr. Salisu described the Vice-Chancellor as a visionary leader who proffers solutions even before difficulties emerge. He also commended MANCOT for its untiring contributions to the transportation facet of the University.

The Director advocated for the injection of more vehicles in the transportation pool of the Institute and called for the repairs of its access roads, which he noted would reduce the maintenance cost on the vehicles.
