Abstract
The insect species on Eichornia crasipes (water hyacinth) on Ogun river, south Western, Nigeria were surveyed with the objectives of determining if any of them could serve as a bio-control agent of water
hyacinth collected included zonocerus varieqatus L; Attractomorpha aurvilla. Oxya hyla servile, lamprococa occidentalis, Leptauleca fissicollis, lagria villosa \fab, Locries maculate, Aspavia armigera, Acisoma panorpoides and Musca domestica.Adult insect species performed different kinds of activities on the water hyacinth (E crassipes) such as feeding, resting, mating and tunneling into the petiole of waterhyacinth. However, all these activities of the insects had no visible damaging effects on the growth and proliferanon of water hyacinth on Ogun River, hence they could not be used as bio-control agents
