The Industrial Skills Training Centre (ISTC), Ikeja, a branch of the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) has expressed interest in collaborating with the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) on training and capacity-building initiatives for staff and students.

Leading the delegation on March 6, 2025, the ISTC Training Manager, Mr. Hakeem Salimonu, met with the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, to discuss potential partnerships in technical and vocational training.

Welcoming the delegation, the Vice-Chancellor stressed the University’s commitment to manpower development, particularly in technical fields. He highlighted FUNAAB’s ongoing capacity-building efforts through established organisations such as the Centre for Management Development (CMD), and the Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), both in Lagos. He expressed optimism that the proposed collaboration with ISTC would provide more training opportunities for various staff cadres.

In his remarks, Mr. Salimonu appreciated the Vice-Chancellor’s warm reception and affirmed ISTC’s readiness to provide modular training programmes spanning three to six months for FUNAAB’s Technicians, Artisans, and Engineers.

Also speaking, the Dean of the College of Engineering (COLENG), Prof. Olawale Dairo, underscored the importance of training Technical staff, noting its crucial role in securing accreditation success for the University’s Engineering Programmes.
