Management Announces Comprehensive Retirement Programme for Staff

… As Bursary Department Honours Retired Staff

In a heartfelt gesture to honour some recently retired staff members, the University Management, under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Babatunde Kehinde, has unveiled a comprehensive retirement programme for retiring staff members.

The announcement was made during a special Send-Forth ceremony organised by the Bursary Department today, May 28, 2024, at the Green Chamber, to celebrate the dedicated service of its six retired staff members.

The retirees, Mr. John Alebiosu, Mrs. Elizabeth Adeyemo, Mr. Israel Sodiya, Mrs. Margaret Bamgbose, Mr. Ismail Ewedairo, and Mr. Gabriel Olutan, were recognised for their tireless efforts and significant contributions to the University.

The Vice-Chancellor expressed his profound appreciation for their service, stating, “Your contributions are seen and appreciated, and we are grateful for your service. You have set a high standard, and we will strive to continue with your legacy.”

According to him, the retirees’ efforts had not gone unnoticed, and the Send Forth ceremony was a token of the University’s gratitude for their hard work.

Citing a line from the National Anthem, “Labours of our heroes past shall never be in vain,” he urged all staff members to uphold the values and dedication demonstrated by the retirees.

Earlier in his Welcome Address, the Ag. Bursar, Mr. Olukayode Osinuga expressed his gratitude for the retirees’ selfless service, noting that the Bursary Department remained a home they could always return to.

He commended the retirees for their dedication and commitment, stressing the importance of creating happy memories and cherishing moments of laughter and friendship.

He noted that the Bursary Department would continue to honour its dedicated, hardworking, and God-fearing retirees.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of gifts and awards to the retirees in recognition of their years of service.

The ceremony was attended by several notable figures, including the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Development, Prof. Kola Adebayo; Ag. Registrar, Mrs. Oluwatoyin Dawodu; representative of the University Librarian, Dr. Idayat Agboola, and the immediate past Bursar, Dr. Chukwunwike Ezekpeazu.

Other distinguished attendees included the ASUU-UNAAB Chairman, Dr. Oluwagbemiga Adeleye, SSANU-FUNAAB, Chairman, Mr. Olurotimi Fasunwon; NASU-FUNAAB Chairman, Mr. Samson Edivri, and the representative of the Director, Directorate of Internal Audit, Mr. Femi Owoade, as well as several Deputy Bursars, along with staff members from the Bursary Department.

Meanwhile, the event was a fitting tribute to the retirees, celebrating their hard work and dedication to the University.
